Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML) in partnership with the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has reported a significant revenue increase in Ghana’s downstream petroleum sector, reaching GH¢12 billion.
According to Dr. Yaa Serwaah Sarpong, Director of Special Support Services, she highlights the doubling of taxable volume to 450 million liters through SML’s auditing measures and technological advancements.
Addressing misconceptions, Dr. Sarpong clarifies that SML has not received any payment for its services and has covered all infrastructure costs.
“When we came in the downstream petroleum, the average taxable volume was between 240 and 250, but we have doubled that volume based on the controls we have put in place to audit and assure revenue in the downstream petroleum. It is unprecedented based on the technology SML is using in Ghana,” she remarked.
“So, our performance has been remarkable and unprecedented and GRA has already acknowledged this. We have been able to show our MPs what we do and how we come about what we do. And we are confident that they were impressed with our operations,” Yaa Serwaah Sarpong added.
The Parliamentary Select Committee on Mines and Energy commended SML for its cutting-edge installations, urging the public to refrain from uninformed commentary.
Samuel Atta Akyea, Chairman of the Committee, lauds SML’s contributions, emphasizing its role in enhancing national revenue and urging informed discourse.
“From an informed position, though I don’t want to prejudice the work of the Jubilee House, I believe that this is a world-class installation. SML has come to expose something very huge and I think they have given the whole nation some rest and the GRA can attest to that. Those who have no clue as to what this company is doing or have no facts as to what happens here, should not do propaganda at the least opportunity.”
