Sharika Iddrisu, Commercial Manager at Tullow Ghana was born in Ghana and educated in the United States and the United Kingdom. Sharika returned home with a mission: to help facilitate her home country’s economic development through energy.
Whether working at the Economics Department of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation or in her current role at Tullow, she has been adamant about ensuring that managers – both men and women – “take an active role in supporting women’s careers”.
Now, as a leader herself, she creates space for women to take leadership roles and recognizes others who have helped her overcome barriers.
Sharika Iddrisu is the latest featured champion in the Women Energy Champions series. The series highlights the stories of women who come from different backgrounds and have travelled different paths to make strides in the male-dominated energy sector, to encourage more women to join the sector, and to inspire those already working in it.
