The Minister for Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, is spearheading Ghana’s delegation to the Annual Meetings of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB) in Nairobi, Kenya.
The meeting aims to convene Ministers of Finance, Governors of Central Banks from Africa, representatives of non-African regional shareholders of the Bank, and leaders of key global and regional financial and development institutions, along with their technical teams. The objective is to discuss the Bank’s performance, policies, and programs aimed at enhancing its projects across the African continent.
The 2024 Annual Meeting will be held on the theme “Africa’s Transformation, the African Development Bank Group, and the Reform of the Global Financial Architecture.”
The Deputy Minister for Finance, Dr Alex Ampaabeng; the second Deputy Governor, Mrs Elsie Addo Awadzi, and officials from the Ministry of Finance (MoF), the Bank of Ghana (BoG), and the Ghana Infrastructural Investment Fund made up Ghana’s delegation.
They’ll attend statutory AGM meetings and conduct bilateral meetings with development partners, including the President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, the Kuwaiti Fund, Standard Chartered Bank, ABSA Bank, BADEA, and the OPEC Fund.
Dr. Amin Adam will serve as a panelist in two high-level plenary knowledge events: “Financing Africa’s Transformation in a Changing Global Financial System” and the African Capacity Building Foundation (ACBF) event focusing on “Leadership Skills Needed to Improve PFM Performance in Africa.”
Key highlights of the AGM include commemorating the AfDB’s 60th anniversary, the unveiling of the African Economic Outlook 2024, and preliminary discussions regarding the roadmap for the election of a new President of the Bank to succeed Dr. Adesina Akiwumi.
