President Akufo-Addo accepts resignation of Energy Minister Opoku Prempeh

Ghana’s President Nana Akufo-Addo has accepted the resignation of Energy Minister Matthew Opoku Prempeh, effective immediately, to allow him to focus on his new role as vice-presidential candidate.

Opoku Prempeh’s tenure was marked by significant contributions to the energy and education sectors, the presidency said in a statement.

Lands and Natural Resources Minister Abu Jinapor will oversee the Energy Ministry, while Minister-of-State-designate Herbert Krapa will handle day-to-day administration.

The president thanked Opoku Prempeh for his service and wished him well in his new role.
