On Tuesday, July 16, 2024, the government, through the Ministries of Finance and Trade and Industry and in collaboration with partnering agencies, will launch the ‘SME Growth and Opportunity’ Programme at a summit.
This initiative focuses on ensuring the targeted delivery of financial and technical support to high-growth potential SMEs through coordinated efforts among partnering agencies.
The summit, themed “Breaking Barriers to SME Growth,” will gather approximately 150 participants from various sectors, including the private sector, academia, business regulatory and compliance institutions, media, industry, multilateral and bilateral partners, and financial service providers.
Minister for Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, stated, “The summit aims to enhance partnerships, mobilize diverse financial resources for SME growth and expansion, and provide a platform for public and private sector actors to advocate for inclusive policies and strategies to foster SME growth in Ghana.”
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will officially launch the SME Growth and Opportunity Programme. Other notable speakers include Minister for Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Minister for Trade and Industry, Hon. K.T. Hammond, Governor of the Central Bank of Ghana, Dr. Ernest Addison, and President of the African Development Bank Group, Dr. Akinwumi Adesina.
The event will also feature an exhibition of SME products and provide a networking opportunity for SMEs, financial service providers, and business regulatory and compliance institutions.
The partnering agencies involved in this initiative include the Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA), Ghana EXIM Bank, Development Bank Ghana (DBG), and the International Finance Corporation (IFC).
