PPA takes action against fake certificates in procurement

53views

The Public Procurement Authority (PPA) has announced stringent measures to combat the use of fake certificates among suppliers, contractors, and consultants involved in public procurement.

According to a public notice from the Authority, individuals found using fake certificates will face a prohibition of up to three years from participating in public procurement, in addition to potential criminal prosecution.

The PPA also cautioned the public against engaging with unauthorized individuals posing as its staff or agents, issuing fake certificates, or offering enticing contract opportunities.

To further ensure compliance and integrity, the PPA will dispose of all expired supplier certificates issued between 2020 and 2023 that are not collected by Wednesday, July 31, 2024.

Suppliers, contractors, and consultants who have registered successfully on the Suppliers Registration Portal but have not yet collected their certificates are urged to do so by the specified date.

The Authority has directed all suppliers, contractors, and consultants to collect their certificates within 20 working days after successful registration or renewal at PPA offices in Accra, Kumasi, and Takoradi.

In light of these measures, the PPA stated it will not be responsible for any losses incurred from dealings with unauthorized individuals.

The Authority also warned those misusing its name and image for fraudulent activities to desist or face the full rigor of the law when caught.
