A six-member delegation from Singapore has paid a courtesy call on the Deputy Minister of Finance, Dr Alex Ampaabeng.
The visit which was led by the Singaporean Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Culture, Community and Youth, Mr Alex Tan Zhixiang was to deepen the bilateral relations between Ghana and Singapore.
The meeting centered around training for Ghanaian officials under the Singapore Cooperation Programme, and negotiations around the Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT), which will provide greater assurances for Singaporean businesses and investors.
Welcoming the Singaporean delegation, Dr Ampaabeng emphasized on possible areas of support and collaboration between both countries including Fintech, and SMEs growth and opportunity program.
He further discussed ways to strengthen Ghana’s financial sector through knowledge exchange in the area of banking, insurance, and capital markets.
Ultimately, this bilateral relationship would ensure the establishment of an international financial services center (IFSC) in Ghana to position the country as the preferred destination for International/regional finance, among others.
