Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia, has announced a significant reduction in public transportation costs, promising a decrease of at least 40 per cent before the December elections with the introduction of electric vehicles.
Speaking at the Ofie Mega Walk in Akropong, Dr. Bawumia revealed the country’s plan to transition from diesel, gas, and petrol to electric vehicles for public transportation.
“I’ll change the dependence on oil and gas for fuel on public transports from diesel and petrol. We are moving to electric power, we are moving to electric vehicles. We are adding one-wheelers, two-wheelers, and three-wheelers,” Dr. Bawumia stated.
He assured that all estimates have been completed and the electric vehicles will arrive in the country before the December elections.
“We are already done with the estimates on the electric vehicles, and fortunately, the buses will be in before the December election. This will enable the cost of public transportation to decrease to at least 40 per cent,” he said.
