The Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection (MoGCSP) on Monday held a sensitization workshop for 45 journalists and reporters in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, to enhance reporting on social protection interventions.
The workshop, organized under the Journalists in Social Protection (JISOP) program, aimed to increase awareness and communication on social protection issues.
Presentations covered social protection in Ghana, the Social Protection Bill, the LEAP program, and the National Household Registry (GNHR).
Since its inception in 2015, GNHR has worked to establish a single national household register to aid social protection programs and select beneficiaries.
The government initiative seeks to ensure that social protection benefits reach the extremely poor and vulnerable, building on progress made in poverty reduction.
