NIA withholds over 110,000 Ghana Cards over double registration

The National Identification Authority (NIA) has disclosed that over 110,000 Ghana Cards have been withheld due to issues of double registration.

Despite issuing more than 18 million cards to Ghanaians, around 150,000 cards remain pending for printing.

Prof. Kenneth Agyeman Attafuah, the Executive Secretary of the NIA, informed the Assurance Committee of Parliament that investigations into these multiple registration cases have begun.

He stated, “As of August 20, 2024, the total number of unissued cards is 559,457, with 150,896 ready for printing. Additionally, 110,936 cards are currently under investigation for multiple registrations.”
