Ghana Water Company Ltd (GWCL) has set an ambitious target to achieve 100% water coverage across the country by 2030.
Stanley Martey, the Chief Manager of Public Relations and Communications at GWCL, revealed that the company is implementing strategic measures to expand its operations nationwide, ensuring every corner of Ghana has access to reliable water supply.
In an interview with Caleb Kudah on the Citi Breakfast Show on Citi FM on Wednesday, August 28, Mr. Martey emphasized that this initiative aligns with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). He noted that GWCL currently provides an impressive 80% water coverage across the country and is committed to reaching the full 100% by the end of the decade.
“We have a comprehensive development plan aimed at achieving 100% water access by 2030, in line with the SDG goals, our government’s vision, and our company’s objectives. Since 2020, we’ve initiated several projects, including the construction of new treatment plants, all designed to help us meet this target. With current coverage at around 80%, we are confident that, barring any unforeseen circumstances, we will reach 100% by 2030,” Martey stated.
