Parliamentary sessions to relocate to AICC amid major renovations

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has announced that the next parliamentary session, scheduled to reconvene on September 3, will be held at the Dome of the International Conference Centre.

This shift from the traditional Parliament House is necessitated by ongoing extensive renovations in the main chamber.

The decision, formalized in a letter dated August 27, 2024, cites Article 112(3) of the 1992 Constitution, which allows the Speaker to designate an alternative meeting place.

The renovations, which include upgrading the Chamber’s infrastructure, are crucial but will not be completed in time for the scheduled recall.
