The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced its excitement over Virgin Atlantic’s decision to resume operations in Ghana starting May 2025.
This marks the 25th airline to operate from Kotoka International Airport, with Virgin Atlantic set to offer daily flights using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
The airline’s return highlights growing confidence in Ghana’s aviation sector and supports the country’s ambition to become the leading aviation hub in West Africa.
Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, Managing Director of GACL, expressed her enthusiasm on behalf of the company’s Board, Management, and Staff. “We are thrilled to welcome Virgin Atlantic back to Ghana, making it the 25th international airline at Kotoka International Airport. We look forward to collaborating with Virgin Atlantic for a seamless launch and smooth operations at the airport,” she said.
Mrs. Opare also mentioned plans to maximize the use of Terminal 2 at Kotoka International Airport as the number of airlines operating from Ghana continues to grow. This strategy aims to reduce congestion at Terminal 3, alleviate long queues, and enhance the travel experience for passengers and airlines alike. Further details will be shared with the public after stakeholder consultations are completed.
Virgin Atlantic’s return is expected to offer travelers increased connectivity, linking passengers from Ghana to various global destinations.
