The Ghana Chamber of Mines has introduced the Ghana Mining Competency Framework, a new initiative aimed at standardizing the evaluation of knowledge and skills required for various roles within the mining sector.
This framework is designed to ensure that employees in the mining industry are adequately trained and qualified to perform their tasks safely and efficiently.
The launch occurred during the 6th Human Resource Biennial Conference in Accra. Sulemanu Koney, CEO of the Chamber, commended the HR Committee and the Ad-hoc Committee for their dedication to developing the framework. He highlighted that it will provide a foundation for designing training programs, assessments, and career development pathways, thereby enhancing the competency of employees in the mining industry.
Koney encouraged HR professionals in the mining sector to continue creating initiatives that align with the evolving needs of the industry. The conference, attended by industry leaders, addressed the challenges and opportunities facing the mining sector, including topics like the future of work, diversity and inclusion, and the role of technology in promoting sustainability.
Speakers emphasized the importance of collaboration and innovation in addressing industry challenges and ensuring a sustainable future. Mr. Koney’s remarks stressed the vital role of HR practitioners in shaping the future of the mining sector, particularly in driving sustainability efforts.
