The incumbent Member of Parliament for the Asokwa constituency in Kumasi, Ms. Patricia Appiagyei, has reaffirmed her determination to make a significant impact if she secures another term in the upcoming 2024 general elections.

Ms. Appiagyei, who also serves as the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, is seeking a fourth term to continue advancing development-oriented initiatives and creating job opportunities in the Asokwa Municipality.

Speaking to the media after submitting her nomination forms to the Electoral Commission, “Sompahemaa,” as she is affectionately called, expressed her readiness to contribute even more in her desired additional term. She highlighted several accomplishments during her three previous terms, including scholarships for students, support for women in small-scale enterprises, the provision of textbooks, exercise books, and laptops to schools, and the construction of basic amenities like the yet-to-be-completed hospital at Old Asokwa.

“By submitting my nomination forms today, I reaffirm my commitment to the development of Asokwa, particularly to creating employment opportunities for the youth,” Ms. Appiagyei stated.

She also praised the social intervention programs introduced by the Nana Akufo-Addo government, such as the free senior high school policy, which has allowed millions of students to access education, and the restoration of the teacher and nursing training allowances. She believes these efforts have brought much-needed relief to Ghanaians.

Ms. Appiagyei added, “With Dr. Bawumia as President from 2025 and myself as MP for Asokwa, we will see more development projects and job creation in the Municipality.”

The Asokwa MP expressed her gratitude to the chiefs and people of Asokwa for their support during her previous three terms and appealed for their continued backing in her bid for a fourth term to complete ongoing projects.

“I thank the good people of Asokwa for giving me the opportunity to serve, and I humbly ask for their support once more so I can finish the social interventions I’ve initiated,” she concluded.
