Dr. Prince Hamid Armah, the Deputy Minister for Works and Housing, has launched the Rent Control Department’s first-ever digital platform aimed at modernizing Ghana’s rental housing sector.
The platform is designed to improve the experience for both tenants and landlords by digitizing key services, enhancing efficiency, and promoting inclusivity.
Speaking at the launch event at the Architecture and Engineering Services Limited (AESL), Dr. Armah emphasized the importance of this initiative in driving Ghana’s public service into a new era of modernization. He noted that the Rent Control Department plays a critical role in fostering peaceful relations between landlords and tenants and ensuring access to affordable and adequate housing. However, the Department’s manual processes had previously led to inefficiencies and public frustration.
Partnering with Supertech Limited, a leading tech provider, the Ministry has digitized 15 Rent Control offices across 11 regions in the first phase, allowing easier access to rent services nationwide. Dr. Armah highlighted that the new platform will not only simplify processes but also promote fairness, ensuring that all Ghanaians, regardless of location or financial status, benefit equally.
He concluded the event by unveiling the web portal, rentcontrol.mwh.gov.gh, encouraging citizens to embrace the digital system, which promises greater transparency, accountability, and efficiency in rent administration.
