Two preferred bidders shortlisted for Saglemi Housing Project completion

54views

Two preferred bidders have been shortlisted for final negotiations as the Government of Ghana advances efforts to resume work on the stalled Saglemi housing project. After several weeks of evaluation and due diligence, Deloitte Ghana, the transaction advisors, has informed the government that one of the two shortlisted firms will be selected to complete the project following final negotiations.

Initially, 10 firms expressed interest in partnering with the government to complete the uncompleted housing units, but only five submitted formal bids by the close of the bidding process in July 2024. The Ministry of Works and Housing will now choose the firm offering the most favorable terms after the negotiation phase.

Housing Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah has assured the public that the government remains focused and meticulous throughout the transaction process.

The Saglemi Housing Project was launched with a $200 million contract to build 5,000 affordable housing units. However, by January 2017, only 1,506 units had been completed or were in various stages of completion, despite $197 million already disbursed to contractors.
