Henley and Partners urge Ghanaian high-net-worth individuals to explore global residency and citizenship opportunities

High-net-worth individuals and business moguls are being encouraged to explore opportunities in acquiring residency, citizenship, and educational programs through Henley and Partners, as a way to diversify their portfolios and become global brands. Grace Arthur, Henley and Partners’ Consultant for Ghana, has suggested.

Henley and Partners pioneered the concept of residence and citizenship by investment in the 1990s. As globalization has accelerated, the demand for residency and citizenship options has grown significantly among internationally mobile entrepreneurs and investors.

Speaking at the Henley and Partners Roadshow in Accra, Ghana, the final stop in their West Africa tour after Abuja and Lagos, Ms. Arthur stated, “Our focus is on educating the Ghanaian market—including investors, businesspeople, and high-net-worth individuals—about global opportunities. We are here to provide insights into how they can benefit from these opportunities.”

She added, “As the world evolves, wealth distribution is shifting, and those who control wealth are increasingly seeking global mobility. They want to travel freely without the need for visas. Unfortunately, the Ghanaian passport is somewhat restrictive, though not due to any fault of Ghana. For those who can afford it, we offer a pathway to address their needs and lifestyle through our global programs.”

Ms. Arthur highlighted the importance of helping individuals expand their businesses into North America, Europe, and the Caribbean through residency and citizenship programs. These programs offer quality education for their children, attractive tax policies, and access to international banking. With a one-time investment, many of these benefits can be unlocked.

Globally, there are 40 available programs—some focused on residency, others on citizenship. Ms. Arthur also noted that their clients in Ghana are successful individuals who meet the financial requirement, with a minimum investment of US$200,000. “These individuals aren’t necessarily looking to leave Ghana but are interested in capitalizing on partnerships, collaborations, and new business ventures. Over the past year, we have seen a 46% increase in the uptake of these programs, demonstrating that Ghanaians are recognizing the advantages. We receive constant inquiries about these opportunities.”

Siobhan Lloyd, Legal Consultant at Range Developments, discussed the strong African influence in the Caribbean and encouraged investors to explore opportunities there. “Governments in the Caribbean have made significant strides in improving infrastructure, and tourism has grown significantly. Additionally, there are new opportunities in agriculture and education. We are particularly excited about exploring artificial intelligence (AI) and exchanging skills—Ghanaians have expertise that can be shared with Grenadians.”

Lloyd mentioned that investing in a resort in Grenada requires a minimum investment of US$270,000.

Christina Tobacco, Director of International Business Development at Golden Gate Global, explained their role as an EB5 Regional Center based in San Francisco, California. “We facilitate the EB5 Immigrant Investment Program into the USA. The program requires a US$800,000 investment in the form of a loan, which is typically returned to the investor within three to five years, depending on the chosen project.”

Tobacco also noted that investors, along with their spouses and unmarried children under 21, qualify for the visa. “In addition to the US$800,000 investment, the investor must create 10 American jobs. The program has stood the test of time due to its focus on job creation in the United States.”

Expressing her enthusiasm about the Henley and Partners roadshow, Tobacco said, “I’m delighted to be here, especially speaking to a Ghanaian audience. Many of our clients in Africa seek to send their children overseas to attend top US universities. The EB5 program allows them to compete on equal footing with their American peers.”

With over 25 years of institutional experience, Henley & Partners is by far the largest globally integrated residence and citizenship advisory firm in the world. Through the provision of bespoke residence and citizenship by investment solutions, it has helped thousands of individuals and families, their advisors, and many sovereign states to generate value.
