The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced updates to ballot allocations for the 2024 general elections, involving adjustments for 20 specific polling stations. This change requires additional ballot booklets to be printed and distributed, ensuring accurate resources at each location.
Outlined in a press release on Monday, October 28, the update reflects the EC’s commitment to enhancing electoral processes based on recent rulings and community feedback gathered from the re-exhibition of the 2024 Provisional Voters Register. Comprehensive reviews by District Registration Review Officers (DRROs) and High Court rulings identified areas for adjustment to resolve discrepancies in voter registration records.
This revision process, which included re-exhibiting the Provisional Voters Register, enabled citizens and political parties to verify voter details, helping to catch and correct potential errors before election day.
In its statement, the EC emphasized its dedication to transparency, stating, “Following the implementation of the District Registration Review Officers’ (DRROs) and High Courts’ decisions, as well as revisions from the re-exhibition process, slight adjustments were made to the 2024 ballot statistics shared with Political Parties and Printing Firms. This includes 20 polling stations that will receive additional ballot booklets.”
The EC confirmed that all revised ballot data, including the affected polling stations, has been communicated to political parties, independent candidates, and printing firms, ensuring transparency and preparedness ahead of the elections.
