NCA Partners with mobile network operators to ensure uninterrupted telecom services during elections
The National Communications Authority (NCA) has announced its collaboration with mobile network operators (MNOs) to guarantee uninterrupted telecommunication services during and after the upcoming election period.
The NCA has established a dedicated situation room at its monitoring center to oversee media activities and promptly address communication-related complaints in partnership with MNOs.
Speaking to the media, Prof. Ezer Osei Yeboah-Boateng, Deputy Director-General in charge of Technical Operations at the NCA, emphasized the authority’s commitment to ensuring seamless communication throughout the election period.
“With respect to the election, we have set up a situation room for obvious reasons because telecommunications play a very critical role in communication and information dissemination during the electioneering period,” he stated.
Monitoring and Collaboration
Preparations are already underway as the NCA begins its monitoring process. From tomorrow through Sunday, the situation room will coordinate with stakeholders and MNOs to address public concerns and escalate reports for immediate action.
“If there is any information we receive from the public, we can relate it to the MNOs for necessary action. Similarly, if we have any information or reports from the MNOs, we can take the necessary steps to ensure uninterrupted communication service during this critical period,” Prof. Yeboah-Boateng added.
The initiative underscores the critical role of telecommunications in ensuring effective communication and information flow during the election process.
