Wellness is often overlooked because it demands consistent effort, time, and commitment—qualities many people are unwilling to invest in,” says Edmund Duah-Asamoah, co-founder of Edmund Fitness Concepts and a certified human performance specialist.
According to him, there is a widespread misconception that health will manage itself. This laissez-faire mindset and the carefree attitude toward wellness inspired him and his wife, Maura Duah-Asamoah, to take action. Motivated by a shared passion for saving lives and promoting healthier lifestyles, the duo relocated to Ghana two years ago to establish Edmund Fitness Concepts.
Their mission is to challenge prevailing attitudes about health and wellness, encouraging individuals to take proactive steps toward a more balanced and vibrant life.

According to the Global Wellness Institute’s Global Wellness Economy Monitor, the world wellness economy grew from a $3.7tn (£3tn) market in 2015 to $4.2tn (£3.4tn) in 2017. Now, wellness is global. The Global Wellness Institute define wellness as the pursuit of physical activity, nutrition, beauty, wellness, tourism, workplace wellbeing, even real estate, leading to an holistic state of health. The industry has some unique and inspiring wellness pioneers to thank for this growth.
At a programme to raise the awareness of fitness, wellness and to reopen its Ghana facility to old and prospective clients, Mr. Duah-Asamoah underscored that wellness is not celebrated because it takes a lot of time, “we let health take care of itself, we are supposed to cultivate it but we lose it.”
***the program was called A CELLEBRATION OF WELLNESS
***’we think health will take care of itself. If we don’t – we will lose it!”
Mr. Duah-Asamoah, says his facility is anchored on three themes comprising pillars to wellness, mindset nutrition and movement and recovery.

Further, he adds that physical activity starts with a good mindset.

Many people struggle to do the recommended amount of exercise each week. But research suggests even a small amount has powerful effects.
There’s no question that exercise is good for the heart. Regular exercise lowers blood pressure and cholesterol and reduces the chances of having a heart attack or stroke.
And with a mission is to spread hope through health and with a vision of transforming lives one healthy habit at time, they are poised to carry people along to realise that goal.
‘Health is what you should be standing on whiles juggling everything else, you have renewed strength and you cannot compromise on it.
We are here to break it down so you understand how to fit that health piece of the life puzzle in its rightful place.”he told the gathering.
People have entangled themselves with money, success and keep going but sometimes it gets to a point they realise “something is missing -my body aches, I am not getting adequate sleep, my joint hurts, I can’t think straight, you get to a place where you ask, where is my health
If your wellness is something that you neglect, you need to make that u-turn”

But sometimes it can be hard to find the time (and motivation) to exercise.
His wife, Maura who is a nutritionist says their passion for health and wellness is huge and reckons when people make the commitment to step into health and wellness it will pay off.

Available data suggests that a sedentary person who goes from doing nothing to exercising a couple of hours a week will see the greatest reductions in cardiovascular risk during this period. If they increase the amount they exercise to four hours a week, there would be additional – albeit smaller – reductions in risk (around 10%). But the benefits to cardiovascular health appear to max out after four to six hours a week – with no additional gains beyond this point for everyone.
***we love the added data. Could there be something added beyond cardiovascular health. That is only one component of health. We focus our attention on guiding clients to build muscle. Muscle is the organ of longevity. It is essential to live a healthful life.
