Dr. Yusif Sulemana has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Tema Oil Refinery (TOR), bringing over 20 years of experience in the energy sector to the role.
Sources close to TOR confirm that Dr. Sulemana officially assumed office on Monday, February 10, 2025, following a warm welcome from the refinery’s management.
An accomplished Energy Management Strategist, Dr. Sulemana has extensive expertise in petroleum, power, and alternative energy, specializing in oil and gas production, refinery process optimization, and systematic troubleshooting.
Before taking up his new role at TOR, Dr. Sulemana served as a Senior Oil & Gas Production Operations Specialist at Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in the Sultanate of Oman. His previous positions include Project Manager (Gasification) at Genser Energy and Chemical/Process Engineer at Tema Oil Refinery.
Dr. Sulemana holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (Energy Management) from the USA, an MSc in International Oil & Gas Management from the UK, and a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. Beyond his technical expertise, Dr. Sulemana is a dedicated STEM advocate and mentor, committed to nurturing the next generation of energy professionals. His leadership in the sector has earned him widespread recognition, including being named Energy Advocate of the Year at the Ghana Energy Awards. His appointment is expected to bring strategic direction to TOR, leveraging his vast experience to enhance refinery operations and drive efficiency in Ghana’s energy industry.
