ENI cheers Ghana’s reversal on oil field unitization, commits to investment

6views

Italian energy company Eni (ENI.MI) on Friday applauded the Ghanaian government’s decision to withdraw unitization directives related to the Sankofa oil field.

The directives, issued in 2020, had mandated the unitization of the Sankofa field with adjacent fields. Eni, which operates the field, had expressed concerns about the directives.

“We welcome the Ministry of Energy and Green Transition’s decision to withdraw the Unitization Directives,” Eni said in a statement.

The company reiterated its commitment to investing in Ghana, leveraging its portfolio of innovative projects to strengthen domestic energy security and sustainability.

Eni’s statement comes as the Ghanaian government seeks to boost investment in its energy sector while promoting sustainability and energy transition.
