
FirstBank Ghana proudly welcomed students from Duker Academy at its East Legon branch as part of the school’s Career Day activities. This initiative provided young learners with valuable insights into the banking sector and highlighted the importance of financial literacy.
The FirstBank Ghana team engaged with 29 students during the session, introducing them to the fundamentals of banking in an enjoyable and interactive manner. Through storytelling, role-playing, and an engaging question-and-answer format, the Bank’s representatives captivated the students and fostered an environment of enthusiastic participation.
Mr. Allen Quaye, Head of Retail Banking at FirstBank, speaking about the Duker Day Career Day visit to the East Legon branch said, “we believe that financial literacy is essential for young people as they prepare for their futures. Today’s session was designed to make banking relatable and enjoyable while equipping students with the knowledge they need to make informed financial decisions.”
The interactive session not only covered the basics of banking but also emphasized the significance of understanding personal finance from an early age. The Bank’s team encouraged students to ask questions, leading to lively discussions that allowed them to express their curiosity and learn more about the banking industry.
In addition to the engaging activities, FirstBank Ghana introduced students to its Junior Internship Program, aimed at providing young learners with practical experience in a professional environment. This program offers insights into various banking functions, enhancing their understanding of the industry and preparing them for future career paths.
Students expressed their excitement about the interaction with FirstBank and the Junior Internship Program. One student remarked, “I never knew banking could be so interesting and I am really looking forward to applying for the internship to learn more.”
Another student added, “The session was so much fun and I loved the role-playing activities. I cannot wait to tell my parents about the internship opportunity”
The Bank encouraged students to share information about the Junior Internship Program with their families, emphasizing the benefits and opportunities it presents for young individuals. This initiative aims to inspire and empower the next generation of leaders in banking and finance.
Nelldaught Nana Ammah Agyei, Deputy Administrator, commented, “Engaging with students today has been a remarkable experience. It’s crucial that we nurture young minds and encourage them to explore the diverse opportunities within the banking sector.”
