The management of Zoomlion Ghana Limited has denied allegations linking the company to illegal mining activities, after reports surfaced of excavators and other mining equipment bearing the “Zoomlion” name being used in such operations.
In a statement issued by its Communications Department, the company clarified:
“It has come to our attention that certain excavators and mining equipment branded with the name ‘Zoomlion’ are reportedly being used in illegal mining activities (‘galamsey’) across various districts. We wish to categorically state that such equipment is falsely associated with Zoomlion Ghana Limited.”
Further, the statement explained that “We wish to unequivocally state that Zoomlion Ghana Limited is not engaged in, does not support, and has never participated in any illegal mining activity, including galamsey. The company does not own, operate, lease, or authorize the use of any equipment for mining purposes.”
The public is hereby informed that the equipment in question bears the name “Zoomlion” solely because it is manufactured by Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd., a Chinese company. While the brand name is similar, this manufacturer is entirely independent of and unaffiliated with Zoomlion Ghana Limited.”
Additionally, the statement notes that any use of such equipment in connection with illegal mining is without the knowledge, consent, or approval of Zoomlion Ghana Limited. The company strongly distances itself from any such activities and any entities or individuals purporting an association in that regard.
“We respectfully urge the general public, stakeholders, and relevant regulatory authorities to disregard any misrepresentation or unauthorized use of our company’s name.”
