The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has refuted claims by Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd. (SML) regarding the expansion of its revenue assurance oversight to include the upstream petroleum and solid minerals sectors.
In a press statement issued by the Authority, GRA clarified that the suspension of SML’s operations in these sectors—announced in April 2024 pending further review—remains firmly in effect. The Authority emphasized that no changes have been made to this directive.
The statement further expressed concern over reports published on 14th May 2025 by various online news portals and print media outlets, including the Business and Financial Times and Graphic Online, which suggested that SML had launched expanded revenue assurance activities in the aforementioned sectors.
GRA categorically stated that it has not authorized SML to commence or resume any operations under the 2023 Consolidated Revenue Assurance Services Contract in relation to the upstream petroleum and solid minerals sectors.
The Authority reassured stakeholders in these sectors, as well as the general public, of its steadfast commitment to safeguarding the nation’s revenue with integrity, transparency, and due diligence.
