
The Parliamentary Select Committee on Agric and Cocoa Affairs has paid a working visit to the COCOBOD to familiarize themselves with the workings of the Agency.
The Committee led by its Chairman, Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, held an extensive consultative review with the management of the Agency led by CEO, Dr. Randy Abbey on the current challenges faced by COCOBOD. Cocoa sector debt, reversing declining production levels, tackling a poor management culture and a new legal regime for resetting the cocoa subsector for accelerated economic transformation were discussed.
The outcome of the meeting birthed some pragmatic policies outputs and improved management practice propositions expected to contribute to addressing the challenges of the agency, increase cocoa production whilst creating job opportunities for many young people in the cocoa sector.
The Committee is committed to ensuring that agriculture becomes more attractive to the theming young population of Ghana.
