In La, drivers and pedestrians suffer daily as the bad roads and the unfinished kpeshie bridge, exposing government inaction. Drivers are increasingly concerned as and how they would have to visit mechanic every week, isolating the community and endangering those who use these road

Four years ago, the Kpeshie Bridge was at the urge of collapsing, and it was restructured again with metallic pallets that can hold heavy trucks. The road projects were abandon a year after the restructuring, it has been serving the ordinary Ghanaian for four years now. Whiles using that stretch, I realize how bad the roads have become with no traffic light and some metallic plates are deteriorating, causing significant concerns among drivers. This damages which includes corrosion, holes and dents on the metallic pallets leading to increase traffic congestion, to the extent of using other route meant for people who are going to Accra, Circle and 37Bus Stop, and these has become an everyday problem for passengers and drivers. Older woman, lament about this bridge because they feel back pain when they get home and this is not good for them after a long day of sales

In an interview with some drivers, they all said similar but the same thing, they said “Government, Member of Parliament (MP) and the Municipal of La should fix the roads leading to the bridge or complete the project to avoid danger when using the bridge. We are Ghanaians, and we do not understand why we have to beg before the needful is done, this road has been this way since 2021 and we always talk about it but nothing has been done”. The passengers also talked about how they have to be in long traffic, hitting potholes, and reckless driving from drivers, this gives them body pain and can hardly walk. The hawkers where not exempted because they are in the risk zone, that is running after driver to take their money or sell to the passengers, so they are also pleading with the government to fix the roads to avoid accidents

The people of la have endured long enough.  The people of La, drivers and passengers deserve a good road that carries them forward and nothe ones that would put their life in danger
