The Member of Parliament for Amenfi Central, Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has unveiled a major opportunity for communities whose children are still learning under trees.
Through her initiative, an international NGO cooperative has been secured to construct proper school buildings for these communities, offering renewed hope for improved access to quality education.
In a statement shared with Investment Times, the MP explained that the project will require active collaboration from beneficiary communities. Residents are therefore being called upon to provide key details to facilitate the process. These include the name and location of the school, GPS coordinates or WhatsApp location, and photos showing the current condition of the school.
Communities are also expected to supply data on student enrollment numbers at different levels—Kindergarten, Primary (Classes 1–6), and Junior High School—alongside information on the availability of toilet facilities, access to water, and a brief history of the town.
Further requirements include details on land ownership documents for the proposed school site, availability of local building materials, and the role the community is prepared to play in the construction process. To ensure transparency and coordination, each community will also be expected to form a School Building Committee and establish a WhatsApp group for communication.
Highlighting the spirit of partnership, Joana Gyan Cudjoe emphasized that the success of this intervention rests on community commitment and patriotism. “This is a shared responsibility. When the community contributes its part, together we can transform the future of our children,” she said.
Constituents are encouraged to submit all required information via WhatsApp to 0551458698.
This initiative represents a bold step toward eliminating schools under trees in Amenfi Central, ensuring that children across the constituency have a safe and conducive environment for learning.
