The Corporate Communications Manager of Vivo Energy Ghana, Shirley Tony Kum, has announced that the company’s maiden innovation, She’llFix, is designed to empower women by equipping them with practical skills in auto mechanics, lubrication, and car safety. The initiative will be rolled out across major cities in Ghana to benefit as many women as possible.

Vivo Energy Ghana, the company that markets and distributes Shell-branded fuels and lubricants, is the first oil marketing company (OMC) in the country to introduce such a groundbreaking programme.

According to Ms. Tony Kum, the initiative is a way of giving back value to their female customers. She explained that in many cases, when women encounter car troubles, the immediate reaction is often panic, followed by calling a mechanic, friend, or spouse. With She’llFix, however, women will be equipped with basic knowledge of car maintenance, enabling them to quickly identify problems—such as issues with a fan belt or engine—before calling for professional help.

This not only saves time and reduces inconvenience but also boosts confidence and ensures women are not stranded in unexpected situations,” she noted.

Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the event, the Corporate Communications Manager said This is the maiden edition and we are really impressed with the turn out, we are going to do this across the country – so we doing the golden triangle, we will do this in Kumasi next year, we will be going to Takoradi and the Northern region where we have most of our females using the ‘okada’, so it is a programme that we going to scale up next year, so this is the first an OMC has done it and we are proud that Shell has taken that lead in doing this.

This is over 200 participants in here, we will be targeting more women after this phase”

The Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana, Christian Li, has described the She’llFix initiative as an extension of the company’s diversity and inclusion campaign, which is focused on fueling change and empowering women in all spheres of life.

With She’llFix, we are bringing this vision closer to everyday experiences—whether it’s checking fuel levels, topping up fluids, or jumpstarting a battery. This project offers practical, hands-on training that helps women drive independently, safely, and with peace of mind. At Vivo Energy, we want to empower women to truly own the auto space,” Mr. Li said.

He added: “For years, the world has celebrated women in the driver’s seat, but at Vivo Energy Ghana, we believe women deserve more than the seat. They deserve to understand what’s under the bonnet, to drive safely and confidently, and to have the skills to take control. That is the heartbeat of the She’llFix project.”

The Special Guest, Esther Cobbah, CEO of Stratcomm Africa and President of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA), commended Vivo Energy Ghana for the bold initiative. She praised the company for challenging mindsets and creating opportunities for women to learn basic car maintenance skills, noting that such empowerment gives women their rightful place in society.

She further encouraged women at Vivo to be intentional about sustaining the She’llFix project, stressing that its success could open doors for more leadership roles for women in the future.
