GOIL PLC and Star Oil have reported product shortages at their service stations nationwide, blaming a system outage affecting the GRA ICUMS platform. GOIL’s CEO, Edward Abambire Bawa, expressed regret over the inconvenience and assured customers of efforts to restore supply.
Star Oil echoed the sentiment, stating the issue, which began on Thursday, has impacted multiple OMCs and was worsened by a public holiday on Friday. The company stressed it is not hoarding products ahead of an expected price hike from March 16, 2026.
However, Ghana Link Network Services Ltd., operators of ICUMS, has refuted allegations of system failure, claiming the platform is fully operational and blaming disruptions on other issues. The company has demanded a retraction and apology from Star Oil, stating the claims have unfairly damaged ICUMS’ reputation.
The shortages come as industry players anticipate a significant price increase, driven by rising crude oil prices amid Middle East tensions, and call for a review of government levies to cushion consumers
