The National Communication Authority has approved the satellite broadband application of Starlink after several months of scrutiny.

Starlink is a satellite internet network technology that utilizes a constellation of low-Earth-orbiting satellites that communicate with each other and ground stations to deliver internet access.

In a statement issued yesterday, the NCA stated that it has officially approved the application of Space X Starlink GH LTD, operators of Starlink Satellite Broadband, to offer Satellite Broadband Services in Ghana.

This move by the NCA follows the approval of the Satellite Licensing Framework by the communications ministry.

“The approval of the application follows the policy approval of the Satellite Licensing Framework in Ghana by the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation,” the statement said.

The NCA however noted that the administrative processes towards the issuance of the license was still ongoing and may be completed shortly.
