STC online booking platform down for months, customers demand answers

35views

Frustrated and stranded customers of the Intercity STC Coaches Limited have expressed frustration over the continued unavailability of the company’s online booking platform, describing the situation as stressful and inconvenient for passengers.

Speaking to the media, several customers explained that the absence of the mobile app has forced them to rely on phone calls to secure seats—an approach they say is inefficient and unreliable.

According to Abena, one of the customers, passengers often struggle to reach booking agents because phone lines are frequently busy. Even when calls go through, repeated attempts are sometimes required, increasing the risk of missing out on available seats.

“Sometimes you want to book as quickly as possible to avoid the bus getting full, but you’re unable to because the lines are busy,” she said. “By the time you finally get through, the bus is already full.”

She added that the app previously provided a seamless experience. “For me, the app was a smooth ride. You just open it, book, make your payment, and you’re good to go,” she noted.

Another customer, Emmanuel Tetteh, also expressed concern about the prolonged disruption, describing it as poorly managed and inconvenient.

“When you check online right now, there’s no platform. There’s nothing. The whole of this year, it hasn’t been working,” he stated.

He explained that the situation has forced many passengers to rely on physical ticket purchases or switch to alternative transport operators that offer more convenient booking options.

Emmanuel further revealed that there are widespread concerns about what led to the shutdown.

Emmanuel also called on authorities and the media to provide clarity, noting that customers remain in the dark about when the platform will be restored.

“As customers, we have a lot of questions. Why isn’t it working? What happened to it? We need answers,” he said.

Transport analysts warn that prolonged system outages could lead to significant losses for STC, as more passengers turn to competitors offering easier and more reliable booking options, particularly during peak travel periods.

Attempts to reach STC management for comment were unsuccessful at the time of publication.
