President Akufo-Addo and Trade Minister Alan Kwadwo Kyeremanten have commissioned the Specialty Beers Ghana (SBL) Limited in Kwasi Tenten, in Nsawam Adoagyiri Municipality of the Eastern Region.
SBL which is operating under the One-District-One-Factory initiative is part of the government’s comprehensive industrialization programme established to manufacture speciality ale or top-fermented beers for the Ghanaian market.
The company has already engaged 20 persons and is expected to directly employ an additional 60 staff and create about 1500 indirect employment opportunities. Further to reduce the demand for foreign exchange on importation of raw materials, SBL has invested to locally source basic raw materials for its production.
As part of the project, SBL intends to develop exports to the wider ECOWAS region, the rest of Africa and possibly the European market specialized international distributors. The company has already acquired ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme Certification (ETLS) certification.
SBL brings to seventeen (17) the number of factories completed in the Eastern Region under the 1D1F programme. Sixteen (16) more factories are under construction and at various stages of completion while four (4) more are at the project conception stage.
