The Parliamentary Service of Ghana is set to unveil the 2nd Edition of the annual Democracy Cup on Wednesday, July 24, 2025, at a special ceremony to be hosted by the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin.

The official launch will take place at 3:00 p.m. at the Justice D. F. Annan Auditorium, Parliament House, and will outline key details of this year’s competition, including the announcement of the two participating teams.

Scheduled for August 2025, this year’s match follows the successful inaugural edition held on July 17, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium, where Asante Kotoko defeated Accra Hearts of Oak in an entertaining encounter.

The Democracy Cup, introduced in 2024, is a parliamentary initiative aimed at promoting unity, civic engagement, and the celebration of Ghana’s democratic journey through sports. It has now become a permanent feature on the national football calendar.

This year’s edition promises greater excitement, thrilling football, and a few surprises, and the general public—especially football fans—are encouraged to support and participate fully in the event.
