MTN MobileMoney Ltd has successfully held the grand finale of its Me Nsa Aka Promo, rewarding five customers for their active use of the MTN MoMo App during a three-month nationwide campaign aimed at accelerating digital financial adoption.
The promotion, which ran from September 15 to December 15, encouraged customers to migrate from the traditional USSD *170# platform to the MoMo App. The initiative forms part of MTN’s broader digital transformation agenda to deliver safer, faster, and more convenient financial services to customers.
Speaking at the grand finale held at Kaneshie Market in Accra, the Manager for Mobile Money Channel Development, Mr. Faisal Ali, said the promo was designed to reward customer loyalty while building trust and promoting financial inclusion through digital innovation.
“This promo is about more than just prizes. It is about building trust and making digital finance easier for everyone. Through the MoMo App, customers can send money, pay bills, shop, save, and invest in a secure and convenient way,” Mr. Ali stated.
He described the MoMo App as a complete digital lifestyle platform that gives users greater control, convenience, and security, while enabling MTN to roll out new services faster and enhance the overall customer experience.
According to Mr. Ali, customers who downloaded and actively used the MoMo App for transactions during the promo period were automatically entered into daily, weekly, and monthly draws, with prizes of up to GH₵5,000. At the grand finale, the top five users were rewarded with cash prizes of GH₵10,000, GH₵30,000, GH₵50,000, and a grand prize of GH₵100,000 under the theme “One MoMo App, Endless Rewards.”
Mr. Ali also used the occasion to caution customers, particularly traders, to remain alert to mobile money fraud, especially during the festive season. He stressed that MTN communicates with customers only through its official number, 024 300 0000, and urged users never to share their PINs or One-Time Passwords (OTPs) with anyone.
He further announced an ongoing Free Weekend Transaction Promo, which allows customers who transact via the MoMo App on weekends to enjoy zero transaction fees.
Reaffirming MobileMoney Ltd’s commitment to safe digital transactions, Mr. Ali congratulated all winners and encouraged customers to continue embracing digital financial services.
A representative of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Ms. Ernestina Ofosua Addo, assured the public of the credibility and transparency of the promotion.
“As a regulator of all consumer promos, I can confirm that all entries for this promo were carefully scrutinized and validated. The process was free, fair, and devoid of any malpractice. Congratulations to all the winners,” she said.
The overall winner of the Me Nsa Aka Promo, Mr. Frank Beecham, a businessman, walked away with the GH₵100,000 grand prize. Speaking after receiving his award, he said his participation was unintentional, as he only used the MoMo App for his routine transactions.
“I was just using the app for my daily payments and transactions, and today I have won this amount. I encourage all Ghanaians to get on board with MTN and use the MoMo App,” he said.
Other winners at the grand finale were Dorothy Esenam, who received GH₵50,000; Hui Ling, who won GH₵30,000; Gideon Obeng, who took home GH₵10,000; and Joseph Kofi Abavor, who also received GH₵10,000.
